I need your Votes!
Help me Join "Kapelle Gefällt Mir" at "Woodstock der Blasmusik" this summer in Austria!
Ok folks, I need some assistance!
Over the next two days is the “voting round” for applicants to “Kapelle Gefällt Mir” - a honour band of people selected from all over (mostly Austria/Germany, and then there’s me from Canada!) to be a part of a group to come together and perform on the MAINSTAGE at “Woodstock der Blasmusik” this summer! The voting is open now and cuts off sharply at 12pm Austria/Germany time on THURSDAY the 26th, which is 6am East Coast, or 3am West Coast.
It’s literally called the Woodstock of Brass Music, or in more contemporary terms, Coachella for brass bands because it’s all brass bands of various genres and sub-genres performing across 8 stages, and fans of the music coming together for a long weekend of fun and music community! Last summer was my first year there, and they had a record number of 100,000 people attendance!
To secure a spot in the ensemble, there is currently a round of Facebook voting (I know… I roll my eyes at it, but it is what it is). All it takes is a like on the photo of the person you’re “voting” for. No sign ups, no emails given away, you don’t even need to follow their page. Just like the pic. The top two photos with the most votes automatically win a place in the band! After that it’s up the the judging panel to fill out the remaining seats.
This would be a mega huge opportunity for me on many levels, to get to join the ensemble and begin building connections to more folks in the brass community at Woodstock, connect with other professional musicians that are leading the ensemble, as well as rubbing elbows backstage the day of our show, and get my foot in the door of maybe pursuing my further dreams of performing as a solo-artist/DJ or with a future band on my own at Woodstock!
The main idea is to have people represent their home communities from all over the greater “Woodstock” brass community, and I would love to be able to represent my fellow brass musicians of the Vancouver, BC, Canada Lower-Mainland, represent Canada in general, and to be an open and out trans woman playing in a place that is still very much cis-binary focused on gender roles in society (despite legal protections for trans people).
If you’ve read all of this post, I appreciate it, and now please if you are so kind as to “vote” for me by liking the photo on the Woodstock groups post, I’d appreciate it ever so much. VOTE HERE!
Love,
Brí

Done!
